With over 18 years in medical training and clinical work and over 2000 hours of study and training in complementary healing modalities, Dr. Horton has a vast experience of how the body heals and the powerful connection between body, mind and spirit.

Licensed as a general practitioner, Dr. Horton recieved her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Western Ontario in 1994. She received several recognitions for her outstanding contributions to improving medical student training and was ultimately awarded the prestigious Faculty of Medicine Honour Society Award. In 1996, Dr. Horton completed a two year residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, again receiving recognition for her many contributions both provincially and nationally in the betterment of medical training. Dr. Horton also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo, her hometown, receiving several awards and scholarships during that time. Balancing studies with sport, Dr. Horton swam competively while at Waterloo and won the Most Valuable Player award in her final year.

In 1998, with a growing dissatisfaction with the medical system, its ten minute appointment times, and its disease-based focus, Dr. Horton began to explore alternative methods to healing in Canada, the U.S. and overseas.   After doing several meditation retreats,  Eastern- based medical philosophies and practises began to profoundly influence her view of health and healing, some of which are now incorporated into her practise.  A member of the Canadian Clinical Hypnosis Society since 2006 and trained formally as a life coach through the Coaches Training Institute, Dr. Horton’s focus now is on wellness and well-being.  Her extensive varied studies and training enables her to offer an integrated holistic approach or body, mind and spirit where we can translate the body’s wisdom and then select the best “Tools for Transformation” suited for that person to create a personalized wellness success programme.

Patients say that Dr. Horton’s sense of humour, her compassion and her humanity are some of her greatest assets in helping her patients to realize their goals of greater health and well-being.  A wife and mother of two young children, Dr. Horton walks her talk and knows what is like to live in today`s world and its many challenges.   Balancing stillness and meditation on a daily basis with with exercise, fun and family time isn’t always easy, but is ultimately rewarding with a sense of aliveness, vitality and joy that we can all realize.
